1. What information we may collect from you

We collect information from you when you register on our site and gather data when you participate in the forum by reading, writing, and evaluating the content shared here.

Account Data - When registering on our site, you will be asked to enter your username and e-mail address. You can also choose to provide your first and last name. In addition, if you are an existing Skrill customer, you have the option to add your Skrill Customer ID when registering.

Your e-mail address will be verified by an email containing a unique link. If that link is visited, we know that you control the e-mail address. You may, however, still visit our site without registering.

When registered and posting, we record the IP address that the post originated from. We also may retain server logs which include the IP address of every request to our server.

Data about posts and other activity on the forum – We collect and store the content of your posts, as well as bookmarks, links, likes and different posts and themes you follow.

2. Cookie information

We may collect some information about you through automatic means, for example by using cookies when you visit our websites. We may collect information about when you visited the forum and how you used whether you have an account or not.

3. Uses made of the information

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:

• To personalise your experience and help us manage your account — your account data is used to create your profile page to identify you on the forum and to manage your account.
• To contact you regarding your account or activity in the forum - the email address you provide may be used to send you information, notifications that you request about changes to topics or in response to your user name, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions. You can always unsubscribe from receiving such notification messages by pressing the ‘Unsubscribe’ button in the e-mail or by the email notification options under the Preference tab in your account settings.
• To analyse, track and improve our forum — we use data about how you use the forum to optimise it, to compile statistics on forum and topic popularity, to defend the forum from abuse.
• To improve the forum and our customer service — your information and feedback help us to respond more effectively to your customer service requests and support needs. When you choose to provide your Customer ID it will be processed for the purposes of improving our customer services and better handling any support requests you may have.
• To make sure everyone is following our Community Guidelines.

4. How we keep your personal information secure

We have implemented a variety of measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorised access, use, alteration, and disclosure.

The safety and security of your information is also dependent upon you. You are responsible for keeping our password and/or access code to your account confidential and not share it with anyone.

The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our site, unless you are communicating with us through a secure channel that we have provided. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

5. How long we keep your personal information

We will retain your personal information for as long as you are using Skrill Community and have an active account with us. We:

• Retain server logs containing the IP address of all requests to this server no more than 90 days.
• Retain the IP addresses associated with registered users and their posts no more than 5 years.

If you wish to delete your account and the personal information associated with you, there are two ways to do that:

• You can delete all your personal information and all the content generated by you (including forum topics, posts, and replies) at any given time by deleting your account from your account settings. You can also contact our forum moderators and ask them to delete your account and all your information for you.
• Alternatively, when you request your account to be deleted, you can choose to have all your personal information irreversibly anonymised but keep the forum topics, posts and other content generated by you.

6. Disclosure of your information

Remember that your posts on Skill Community are public and visible to everyone. Otherwise, your account information is kept confidential. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personal information. We will only share it with the following:

• Skrill Community administrators and other Skrill staff when they need it to do their job.
• Skrill Community forum provider Discourse.

We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

7. Where we store your information

Our forum is hosted by Discourse in Dublin, Ireland.

In the event that we, our service providers or other parties we might share your personal information with (as described above) may process your personal information in territories that are outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”), we will take appropriate steps to protect your personal information in accordance with this privacy notice and applicable data protection laws; including through the use of any appropriate safeguards required by law to ensure that any international data transfers are lawful:

• We would enter into “Model Clauses” as approved by the European Commission when contracting with third-party data recipients outside the EEA who are receiving data from within the EEA.
• Occasionally, when the recipient is located in the United States, we may use the Privacy Shield with companies that have joined that scheme.

You have a right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you, or to get a copy of it
• make us correct inaccurate data
• ask us to delete, ‘block’ or suppress your data, though for legal reasons we might not always be able to do it
• object to us using your data for direct marketing and in certain circumstances ‘legitimate interests’, research and statistical reasons
• withdraw any consent you’ve previously given us at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal.
